Preheat oven to 150 degrees C.
In a bowl combine your wet ingredients (milk, oil, egg, vanilla extract), then add your dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon.
Add your mixed batter to a non-stick pan lined with parchment or wax paper, I used a 23 cm x 28 cm x 6 cm pan.
Pop in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Pour your COOLED syrup on top of the Basboosa, and allow it to fully absorb the syrup before cutting. Cut into squares, garnish with pistachio or choice of topping.
