This is by far the laziest and most delicious recipe that requires only one bowl.
Basboosa with Saffron Syrup
Ingredients
- 2 cups Semolina
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup oil
- 1 egg
- 1 tbs baking powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Simple Syrup with Saffron:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 pinch saffron (optional)
- 1 tbs water
- 5 tbsp Pistachio (optional,for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 150 degrees C.
- In a bowl combine your wet ingredients (milk, oil, egg, vanilla extract), then add your dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon.
- Add your mixed batter to a non-stick pan lined with parchment or wax paper, I used a 23 cm x 28 cm x 6 cm pan.
- Pop in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Pour your COOLED syrup on top of the Basboosa, and allow it to fully absorb the syrup before cutting. Cut into squares, garnish with pistachio or choice of topping.
